The Hospital for Sick Children (HSC) Outpatient Center Services on the Eastern Shore

An integrated partnership with Children's National Health System (Children's National Hospital)

The Hospital for Sick Children (HSC) Outpatient Center, located in Lanham, MD, now has the HSC Mobility Unit, which allows the pediatric team of specialists to bring the following services to the Kinera Hub location on Kent Island:
  • Assistive Technology (AT): evaluation with a speech therapist, equipment trials, assistance with funding and training for alternative communication devices and power mobility.
  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME): evaluation, trial, fitting for custom seating and positioning equipment, standers, gait trainers, bathing/toileting equipment, as well as funding assistance and provision of donated/loaner equipment.
  • Orthotics and Prosthetics: evaluation including gait assessment, trial , delivery and fitting of orthotic/prosthetic devices to improve function, mobility and to prevent deformity.

If you are the parent or caregiver of a child who needs access to the above services (AT consult, DME evaluation, etc) the parent navigator can schedule you with an HSC/Children's National specialists who will be deployed to the Kinera location.

About The Hospital of Sick Children (HSC)
The Hospital for Sick Children (HSC Pediatric Center) is a pediatric specialty hospital located in Washington DC that provides rehabilitation and transitional care to children and young adults from infancy through 21 years of age. The HSC Outpatient Center, located in Lanham, Maryland is an extension of the HSC Pediatric Center and offers physical therapy (PT), speech and language/communication therapy, occupational therapy (OT), assistive technology evaluation and training, along with an equipment clinic providing individualized support and services.
