Amanda's Story
Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects one in 54 children in the United States, across all ethnic groups and is four times as prevalent in boys than girls? Amanda is a 16 year old teen with autism, but she wasn't diagnosed with autism until 8th grade. She recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award project, on the topic of girls with autism. Her goal is to raise awareness about girls with autism, especially how girls often present with different symptoms than boys and how girls are diagnosed at a later age. Read Amanda's story here.
